All good

The engine is on and we are full steam ahead. We keep getting more auction items, and we have beer and Boylan Sodas. How fun is that? We’re working on the fun little goodie bags to give away and have some amazing ideas, and now it’s the pavement we pound. It’s like being a door to door salesperson. Selling your soul. No, not really, but it’s definitely sell sell sell. We’re also working on food. If you know of anyone who caters and wants to contribute food to the party, let me know. I’m thinkin chocolates, cheeses, hors d’oeuvres and fun nibbles. Think think think.

But on the creative end, we had a workshop of the show in July and it went really well. It was so nice to see some of the show take shape and really come together. We had 9 rehearsals and put on 1/2 hour show for a small invited audience. We’re still reshaping parts of the show until we start rehearsing on August 20th. We’re getting our design team together to make this show somethin special. Not just another off-off Broadway small budget nameless show.

We’re trying to figure out how to tap into the the food world for support too. I think it would be so amazing to have foodies and restaurant people involved heavily in this show and I think they’d get a kick out of it too. That’s in the works.

Mark your calendars though, AUGUST 23rd! It’ll be the best end of summer party you’ll go to.

Date and Venue all good

So we found a venue and settled on a date! We’re going to have this amazing party on AUGUST 23rd at KEVIN HEAPHY STUDIOS. It’s a fun space down in the West Village/Tribeca. The owners are amazing and it’s going to be such a great party. Booze, food, music and silent auction with some amazing items on the block: massage, MSG tickets, cookies, original art, dinners at top NYC restaurants, books, clothes and much much more.

Come and bring all your friends. Seriously. It will be such fun on a Wednesday night.

August 23rd. 7pm.

Kevin Heaphy Studios.

See you there.

Oh and you know what? We’re trying to host our fundraiser this August, and we need a venue. And Drink Sponsors. And auction items. It’s going to be great when we get those things in line. We do have a lot of good stuff to auction off, but the more the merrier. So if you know of any good venue, please write in, also if you feel generous and want to donate your services or merchandise, let us know! Seriously. Thanks

Coffee Cup (a theatre co) launches

In Uncategorized on July 19, 2006 at 2:42 pm

So Coffee Cup is a theatre co. In New York City. We are gearing up for our first NYC show and can’t wait to get on the stage. The show is Turning Tables and it’s written by the company, acted by the company and produced by the company. As you may have guessed from the title, it’s based on our experiences waiting tables. It’s not a waiter play though, or a bitter waiter rant. I’ll tell you what it is: it’s a true ensemble piece about that tricky interaction between served and server. We’ve all been there, on one side of this exchange, almost daily. Isn’t it funny what we do when on different sides of the table? How we approach people and what that says about us?

Well, we think it’s funny. We love restaurants, have worked in them all over the world and have honed a keen sense of observation. All of that goes into Turning Tables.

It will be going on at Collective:Unconscious in Tribeca this fall (Sept. 28th -Oct 15th Thurs-Sun).

Don’t worry, you’ll be hearing more about it.
